How/Why FIQMA is created

Querétaro’s Municipality has always had as a priority to work alongside its citizens to make its territory a place where environmental preservation is established as a crucial and permanent commitment, one that contributes to attain a high-quality life in harmony with nature.

With the purpose of achieving such goals, for a better use of natural resources and city planning, in 2001 the idea of creating institutions oriented to the care and preservation of natural resources was proposed. As a result, FIQMA was created.

At that time, it was decided that the best approach would be to establish a municipal public trust, with the support of concerned citizens, to promote the improvement of the environment and the quality of life in Querétaro.
