Water plants during the night or early in the morning, when the sun is low and won't cause a lot of water evaporation.

Reuse water used to wash vegetables to water plants or the garden. Collect rainwater to water plants or to clean the house or porch.

Save water in the shower:

To reduce your shower's water consumption, turn off the faucet while soaping and install a water-conserving shower head.

Did you know that showering 10 minutes with a conventional shower head consumes up to 78 liters, while a water-conserving shower head only uses 48 liters?

Decrease your usage of water and gas:

Cold water jets out from your shower head before the hot water is generated. It doesn't have to be wasted, though.

Keep a bucket to capture the water, which can be used to water plants or to wash floors and patios. With this action you can save about 8 liters that would otherwise go down the drain.

While brushing your teeth or washing your face and hands, use a cup to hold water. About 5 liters of water runs out of the faucet every minute. When washing your hands, turn off the faucet while soaping.

Plug the drain when washing dishes. Wash them shortly after using them, if possible, because it reduces the amount of water and detergent necessary.

Install incidental savers of water in sprinkling cans, wash-basins and sinks. You can save up to 40 % of your water consumption.

For example the chives for sprinkling can have a cost that fluctuates between 6.8 and 11.2 dollars, but in the long run the benefit is major, since the cost of investment recovers, the consumption diminishes and this turns out to be reflected in the receipt of this service.

Make sure that your electrical installation should not have escapes, that the disc of the meter does not turn if you disconnect all the devices.

Lighting:

Replace the conventional bulb with Compact Fluorescent Lamps (LCF) that give good results 10 times more than conventionals and save up to 75% of the consumption of energy.

In places where yoy do not need from great lighting, like corridors, cornices and others that you identify in your home, you can use lamps of low voltage.

Use accessories of lighting (screens, adornments) that do not obstruct the step of light and keep them free of dust, it can increase even in 30% the lighting.

Paint the walls of your house with clear colors so they reflect more light and you need less energy to illuminate the room.
